OUR MISSION
The primary role and mission of Tondo Community Initiative (TCI) is to manage and stabilize the immediate and chronic crises faced by children, youth and families living in Upper Smokey Mountain and the so-called Temporary Housing area of Barangay 105 in Tondo (through our Case Management approach).
The secondary role and mission of TCI is to ensure children, youth and families become aware of their rights and of available opportunities to access and succeed in education, training and benefit from welfare and healthcare services available to them. We advocate for their rights when necessary and possible while facilitating community-based interventions to improve living conditions and safety (through our Community & Development Programs).
OUR THEORY OF CHANGE
We believe that IF the immediate and chronic crisis faced by children, youth and families are managed and stabilized – with their active participation – THEN children, youth and families can be encouraged and supported to actively focus on their education, training, accessing available welfare and healthcare services and seizing opportunities to improve their lives.
TCI firmly believes that this theory of change necessitates a systemic approach in which TCI can play a limited but essential role, while collaborating with other stakeholders, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies (such as local authorities, police, schools, healthcare centers and hospitals) so that they can ensure the provision of the services that are essential to the members of the community we serve.
